SWANSBORO, NC

Sunday Evening, April 29, 2012

Well ~~ we are still trying to figure out this "blog" thing and we find the Post we made last night "just" posted tonight - grrrr!

We departed at 7 a.m. from "Casper's" ~ well-run family marina in Swansboro, NC .  After the weatherman promising a sunny day ~ and our loss of time on two bridge openings, we finally arrived at Bridge Tender Marina in Wrightsville Beach area - North Carolina ~ when the sun finally appeared!!   We treated ourselves to drinks and an early dinner around 3:30 p.m. at a great little cafe at the marina - We enjoyed flounder, shrimp, lemon-pepper curly fries and more and the prices were very reasonable!  We were unexpectedly treated to 3+ hours of exceptional music from a live band at the restaurant across the waterway as we relaxed with drinks on the foredeck!   It was great!

Today, we encountered several new experiences ~ from passing a huge barge (150 feet long) with Jan at the helm and getting into 4 feet of water (Well inside the channel) - we just gently bumped the bottom (thankfully it was just mud) ~ and then waiting a half-hour or more for bridge openings - AND it being Sunday, ALL the small watercraft were everywhere - this was definitely a challenging day!

We did enjoy seeing the many northbound "snowbirds" - everything from trawlers to sailboats to motor yachts - most of which appeared to be liveaboard cruising trawlers!  It was great to receive  the many friendly waves from one cruiser to another as we passed on the waterway!

Soooo, now it's time to do our nightly engine checks and get ready for another day and plan our next leg -- We took several videos, but are still trying to figure out how to post them!  There are just not enough hours in the day to plan ~ navigate ~ eat~ drink and be merry and still try to figure out blogging and video posts!  Soon, it will all fall into place!

By the way ~ for those of you who are interested ~ Our girl "Cheyenne" is doing unbelievably well on this journey!

Until our next blog ~ Enjoy Your Day!

Ed and Jan
